Online Training FAQs

Online training is a comprehensive coaching service that involves me drawing on my twenty-plus years of experience to design a bespoke physical training program that will help you achieve your goals, whether they are health, movement or performance related.

Your program is written specifically for you and based on your goals, exercise history, current fitness levels, equipment and availability, movement, strength and capacity and any other relevant information gathered in your initial assessment.

An easy-to-use app will allow you to access your plan and programme from anywhere. The app has clear customised videos and descriptions of every exercise and allows you to record and monitor your progress and track your metrics as you go.

I work with anyone who’s motivated to achieve their goals and whether you want to compete or live a healthy balanced lifestyle. The training packages are more suited to people who are comfortable training on their own.

I recommend that all new clients start with a 60 minute initial consultation. This is an opportunity for us to catch up one to one either in person or via Skype/Facetime and talk through your goals, medical history, lifestyle, current and previous training history.  There will be a short practical element in which we will review fundamental movement patterns, assess strength and capacity and set key metrics to work towards. I then have all the information to go away and write a programme specifically designed for you and your current level of training.

I’m also happy to arrange a brief chat over the phone if you’re unsure if online training is for you or want to ask any specific questions.

6 or 12 week bespoke and detailed training programme – Following your initial assessment, I will design your personalised plan from scratch and send it out to you within three to five days. The programme will be set out in 6 weeks training phases and will clearly map out your training sessions and exercises with clear videos and instructions to guide you through.

Use of a simple, easy-to-use training app with exercise videos – The app will allow you to access your plan from anywhere and record and monitor your progress and track your metrics as you go.

Elite coach support throughout – The messaging part of the app is a great way for us to stay in touch and me to support you in your training. If you have any questions about specific exercises, training or just want to let me know how a session has gone, you can get in touch. I want you to feel confident and happy with what you are doing and am here to support you every step of the way. If you are unsure of technique and want me to take a quick look at a video you can upload it through the app. I will always do my very best to respond to any messages within 48 hours.

Ability to track your progress and training goals – Marking your sessions as complete and noting down training loads (weights) and comments in the app will allow both you and I to track your progress. The ‘metrics’ part of the app will also display your current and previous testing scores and how close you are to reaching your goals.

Shortly after our initial assessment you will receive an invite from True Coach which once you accept will allow you to access your training plan and programme. You can do this on the computer or through the app. It’s pretty intuitive and straightforward but here’s a little video of how it all works.

At the end of your programme I will suggest scheduling a review to discuss how you’ve found the programme, whether it’s been too much or too little, what you’ve loved (and hated!), areas where you feel like you’ve improved and areas you’d like to focus more on moving forward. It’s also a chance for me to make sure I have pitched things at the right level for you and that you are finding the training challenging, motivating and achievable.

If you’re keen to keep training and progressing we can also use this time to discuss goals, planning and training in your next training block and retest on key metrics.

I will aim to see you for your initial consultation within a week or two of you getting in touch. I then go away and write your bespoke plan and programme from scratch and aim to deliver it to you within 3-5 working days.

Although I specialise in sports injury rehabilitation and reconditioning I am not a medical practitioner and am not in a position to diagnose injuries or provide medical advice. If you have an acute injury or medical condition I would advise seeing a qualified medical practitioner before commencing any programme. I am happy to recommend excellent sports doctors, physiotherapists and osteopaths if you would like to be assessed before starting a programme.

No. Each programme is written on a bespoke basis and I will work with whatever equipment and space you have available to you. If I believe you will benefit from specific pieces of equipment to achieve your goals, I will make recommendations.

No. I’m a UKSCA accredited strength & conditioning coach with more than twenty years experience working with people of all ages and abilities. Find out more here.

Definitely. If you are struggling with certain exercises, technique or just motivation you can book an hour of my time (online or in person) and I will coach you through anything you feel unsure of and give you a few cues and pointers to keep you on track.

App FAQs

I’m not expecting you to do everything I set you but if you can get 80% of it done you will be doing brilliantly! Likewise, I do not expect you to always complete your sessions on the days they are scheduled, if other days and times work better for you and your schedule feel free to do your sessions then. Being consistent and getting the work done is the most important thing.

If you want to turn email notifications and reminders off you can do so via your settings (you’ll need to do this on your computer not the phone app). Here’s how:

It’s really helpful for me (and you!) if you can mark your sessions as completed as you go and note down loads/time and any comments on the sessions. You can then view previous results for each exercise by pressing the ‘exercise history’ button in your workout

To track your progress you can access your ‘metrics’ in the account bit of the app, they will be updated with each assessment and you can also update them as you go.

Sport Specific FAQs

Each plan is meticulously planned and structured to progressively develop movement, strength, power and mobility in key areas which will both improve performance and reduce injury risk in your given sport or athletic activity.

Each programme is based on sound scientific principles (and a huge amount of coaching experience) and has been tried and tested on elite athletes (cyclists, runners and track and field athletes) so I know it works.

The equipment required will be minimal but I will specify desirable equipment for you to have to get the most out of your training.

You will have the opportunity to test yourself at the start and end of your programme, track your progress and metrics and access your plan and programme from anywhere through a simple app.

The app clearly sets out your session for every single day with videos, descriptions and suggested sets, reps and loads (weights) for each exercise. I will encourage you to always focus on excellent form and only progress your loading and reps once you you have full mastery of the movement.

I work with anyone who is motivated to achieve their goals through balanced healthy training. The training packages are more suited to people who have some experience of strength training and are comfortable training on their own.

Simply get in touch, tell me a bit about you, your sport and your goals and I can set you up on the plan and get you going.

Use of a easy to use training app with exercise videos – The app will allow you to access your plan from anywhere, record and monitor your progress and track your metrics as you go.

Elite coach input. Tried and tested by athletes – Each programme is written by me and reflects proven training methods developed over twenty years coaching elite athletes. A lot of time, thought and experience has gone into creating a programme that has been proven to work.

Ability to track your progress and training goals – Marking your sessions as complete and noting down loads and comments in the app will allow you to track your progress.
